An error occurred while saving the comment I'm going to look at adding this enhancement if the new PDF print friendly functionality works well - https://www.topomap.co.nz/#Print
An error occurred while saving the comment Please note that even if this feature is the most popular request, it may be put on a back-burner as it's likely to require a GIS server which will cause a lot of extra expense. I will investigate different options that might be cheaper to implement though - might have to get creative.

An error occurred while saving the comment Does the existing "Info Layers" functionality provided through the "Tracks & Trails" layer not provide all the information you require? Screenshot attached to illustrate the functionality in use.

An error occurred while saving the comment The search experience could definitely use some improvements.
Wildcard searching is already present. Try searching for murphy*

"Clements Mill Rd is in a wilderness area off the Taupo- Napier road and is a popular hunting area. Littles Clearing is in the Kawekas, Hawkes Bay, and is another popular hunting/hiking area. ... Piripiro Flats is another popular hunting/hiking area, but none of these come up when using the search function."

An error occurred while saving the comment I do like the concept and was keen to implement it for both search and coordinate conversion functionality. However after a bit of research I found quite a bit of advice against using it due to its closed proprietary nature e.g.
https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/What3words
https://shkspr.mobi/blog/2019/03/why-bother-with-what-three-words/
https://blog.ldodds.com/2016/06/14/what-3-words-jog-on-mate/
It's a shame, but due to its closed nature I won't be implementing support.

An error occurred while saving the comment I'm looking to add more options for sharing via urls, maybe including transparency & other map type to show (satellite imagery, street map, etc.), in which case you should be able to use this as a hack to achieve what you want.
However, I won't be showing the street map layer by default as most people only ever use the topo map layer on its own, so inefficient to load another by default that is more rarely used.

An error occurred while saving the comment You might like MapsPast for older topos - http://www.mapspast.org.nz/

An error occurred while saving the comment Do you mean as a searchable type? A bit like is done with topo 50 map sheets, e.g. "CB12".
Not sure about having areas always highlighted as may bring a bit too much noise and not sure how useful the boundaries are to most users?
If it's requested a bit more it should be an easy feature to add as a searchable type.

An error occurred while saving the comment Unfortunately, if depths aren't added to the official LINZ NZ Topo's then they won't appear on the site.

An error occurred while saving the comment You'll notice this "rotation" is different depending on how far north / south you're looking in New Zealand. The reason for this is that LINZ produce the topos using the NZTM coordinate system, but at present I'm overlaying these on to Google Maps which uses the WGS84 coordinate system. To wrap the topos onto the Google Map the images need to be warped a little between the two coordinate systems.
The reason I use Google Maps is that it allows me to add the opacity functionality where you can ghost out the topos to varying degrees and look at the satellite imagery for the same location. Some users find this useful.
In the future I may look at using a different map option to display the topos on, so the grid doesn't get warped, but if I can't find a satellite imagery layer already projected into the NZTM coordinate system then it will mean sacrificing the opacity functionality a lot of people use.

An error occurred while saving the comment Much like the "add grid numbers at sides of printed map" request... it may be put on a back-burner as it's likely to require a GIS server which will cause a lot of extra expense.

An error occurred while saving the comment To try and tone down the annoyance of the ad blocker nag screen, it's now only shown once every 2 weeks.
An error occurred while saving the comment As a quick fix I'm thinking about dropping a cookie that would stop the nag from displaying more than once a week / fortnight / month.
If I was to offer a paid option I think I'd like to provide a bit more value for $10 / $10 a year. Perhaps a "my places" for bookmarking locations and "my uploads" for adding kml / gpx files, with the option of making the files shareable. I think I'll add that as a new suggestion to see how much interest there is.

An error occurred while saving the comment Are LOC files still used a lot by the geocaching community? Are they being superseded by GPX files?
