Adding boundaries per territorial unit level
I was just thinking for this online researching map to make things more interesting in a local and sub-national aspect. And that is to add boundary lines for every territorial unit level within the nation of New Zealand: from regional councils to territorial authorities to wards to even area unit-level divisions (either suburbs & towns & neighborhoods on urban areas or communities & localities & settlements & villages on rural areas). Any thoughts?

I'd certainly be interested in local authority boundaries. Google maps show regional authority boundaries but not local authority boundaries.

Not sure how to say this, but as a searchable type, I guess it depends.
Since Stats NZ (a.k.a. Statistics New Zealand) or some other online interactive maps of some territorial authority unit area have some layers to determine the boundary lines (from wards to possibly their area units [i.e.: suburbs & localities & communties]). That way, within that type of system of creating boundary lines, we can might notice of which local populated places are grouped by wards, by territorial authority unit areas and by regional councils.
Hope this helps clarify things a bit more. Feel free to ask if any doubts.

Do you mean as a searchable type? A bit like is done with topo 50 map sheets, e.g. "CB12".
Not sure about having areas always highlighted as may bring a bit too much noise and not sure how useful the boundaries are to most users?
If it's requested a bit more it should be an easy feature to add as a searchable type.
