  1. Complete the spelling change from 'Rimutaka' to 'Remutaka'

As far as I can see all previous uses of "Rimutaka" on the topomap have, appropriately, been changed to "Remutaka", following the Geographic Board's decision of October 2017.

To complete this change you need to update the searchable list of feature names, which still has multiple occurrences of "Rimutaka" and none of "Remutaka"

  2. Improve the search

Improve the search so when I enter say "murphy" it finds "murphys" etc
e.g. murphy is the equivalent of murphys* (string plust wildcard).

Alternatively allow users to specify wildcards

  3. Show additional information from GPX file

When plotting from a GPX file show a different colour for each track segment (as defined in the GPX file).
When plotting from a GPS file show waypoint and name.

  4. Provide sorting options for the Search Results

Its not clear how or why the search results returned are ordered.
I'd like to suggest some options be provided.
    1) closeness to location shown on map currently displayed
    2) strict alphabetically
    3) north to south or vice versa)
and possibly a filter, e.g. restrict to region.

  5. Guru Maps app integration (for offline geo-tracking, etc.)

Guru Maps is a third party mapping application that can use any map source (with the proper integration file).

    https://gurumaps.app/

Creating a Guru Maps .ms (map source) file would allow NZ Topo Maps to be loaded into Guru Maps. This would add the following functionality instantly:
    - offline map use (downloadable map)
    - live geo-tracking offline
    - gpx file generation (log/save/export)
    - importing of gpx/kml/kmz layers over NZ Topo Map
    - as-the-crow-flies distance measurement between any two points
    - saving of pins (in collections)
    - alternating between NZ Topo and other map sources with the same data layers still intact

  7. include a 'pen' button

include a 'pen' button that, once pressed, allows you to draw a route on a map in a separate 'layer' which could then be saved or shared with others. Also distance could be calculated - either based on topography (if possible) or as the crow flies.

    2) add marking points so I can drop a pin where I climbed or visited
    3) add 3D map
    4) add racing route options so I know which route I walked

  9. Add to the API the ability to specify the layer and the transparency

Add to the API the ability to specify the layer and the transparency.
    e.g.
    &layer=aerial
    &tp=50 (percent).

  10. Support locations via what3words

Support indexing via what3words. This is an brilliant indexing system for the entire world where each 3x3m location can be indexed via 3 words. For example, the ChristChurch Cathedral can be located using "loaf.reason.closed"; much easier to say than "-43.5309188,172.6371539"

This location cane be shown on a map using the url http://w3w.co/loaf.reason.closed

I think two features would be really useful here:
    * Display the what3words location of the cursor in the Coordinates menu.
    * Provide an alternate URL scheme to allow the w3w address to be added to allow embedding, links etc.

    From the what2words website:

    what3words is a really…

  12. Add the ability to print a map to the correct scale

When "print map" is selected with the topo 50 selected, and the print option is selected as A4 portrait, for example, then the red print area should default to 10.5 x 14.85 grid squares (less about a 6 mm print margin all around). It can then be moved around by the central handle to get the best coverage of the area of interest. It is much more legible to print the maps at the scale they were intended to be printed.

  16. Improve location search coverage

Some locations can't be found through the location search such as Ngahiramai Hut in the Te Ureweras.

  17. Offer a paid option to suppress the 'you're running an ad blocker' popup

I have an adblocker running and I'd prefer to leave it on since I print maps off the website and like not having an ad in those printed maps.

I'm also conscious that I'm depriving you of revenue so have thrown money at your givealittle page.

I'd like to suppress the 'you're running an adblocker' popup. It'd be great if you could add functionality to sell me a licence key or whatever, that disabled the popup. I reckon a good portion of your adblocked audience would pay $10 to $20 for such a key.

    Win-win I reckon. But I'd probably…

  18. Permanent Points Of Interest

For 'adventurers' being able to say, login to topomaps nz and being able to place markers at points of interest that you can always come back and refer to at a later date would be amazing. I myself am a photographer and the option to place markers at a potential spot would be an immense addition for many people who use this service.

    Cheers

  19. Add an API to allow place name to be used

Add an API parameter e.g. mapname="Mount-Ruapehu/Manawatu-Wanganui"
to allow a place name, rather than reference to be used in embedded maps

  20. Easy searchable link to the Harper Pinnacles

Often during "Peninsula Tramping Club" trips to this area we visit the HARPER PINNACLES. This is a popular formation up the Harper River (true Right) from the Avoca River confluence.
