    I agree with this, and also to display the compass bearing for each line segment, relative to grid north. Calculating the simple height difference between waypoints would also be useful.

    This could be relaitively easy to do, since the NOAA website has a tool somewhere where you can get the declination at any coordinate (and at any time for the past few decades as I recall - useful when you're trying to correct old cave survey data!).

    At the same time, the compass bearing of each linear leg would be extremely useful for trip planning.
